Heroic Computer Problems

This is the real reason superheros prefer to punch things.

I always wondered why the computers that superheros used, were so big, or seemed to be controlled just by a few large buttons.
To see what I mean , take a look at this pic of the Superfriends and their computer in the Hall of Justice.

Superfriends Computer

That thing is MASSIVE, and has very little in the way of a keyboard or mouse that would require them to touch it.
And looking at the picture, you can see how the are all too scared to even really approach it.

So, I am now convinced that this is one of the major causes of Superhero violence in the Marvel & DC universes.
Sure, it is great having powers and super strength. But if you could not play WOW, or tweet, or facebook, or surf for porn, whatever, then how would you feel?

I bet you would soon want to hit someone.
Really really hard.

Superpowered folk are not really fans of violence – they just really want to be able to play flash games & poke their friends on facebook like everyone else.

I think there is something in that for all of us, don’t you?

UPDATE: In response to this comic, to valiant twitterers have joined in the fun and linked me to their comics, which also make fun of Superheroes and computers. These are great and I thank them both very much!

Heat-vision and computers do not mix.

Have you ever noticed that many superheros do not use computers as part of there crime fighting activities?

Now wait on comic book nerds (and I can say that, because I am one too…..)
I know there are exceptions, such as Oracle.
Yes, the Batcave has the Bat Computer.
Ok, the Hall of Justice has a supercomputer.
Sure, Cerebro is a massive super computer too….

What I mean is, why don’t they REALLY use them?
They could be getting their own back on the bad guys by flaming them on forums, hacking their bank account details and sending them to Nigeria or just posting their information all over the web to over-expose them so much that they can’t do anythign without getting recognised instantly.

The superheros would then not be destroying buildings during a meta-powered battle, or creating massive secret lairs to operate from and thereby generally being drains to the national economy.

I am putting out a call for the caped crusaders to become more realistic for our modern lives.Continue reading Superman tries out online justice

Don’t Watch man

Don’t Watch man published on 5 Comments on Don’t Watch man

If you saw the “Watchmen” movie, then you will know exactly what this comic is referring to.

I did this comic a little while ago, and kind of forgot about it until I was flipping through an old sketchbook.
I decided it was worth adding to the site, as it still made me chuckle.

The “Watchmen” movie was great, and proved that even stories that are thought to be “unfilmable” can be moved to the big screen if carefully approached and thought out.
I read the original comics back when they first came out too, so I was already a fan before the film opened.

However, I do not remember Dr. Manhattans member ever getting as much attention before. Although, it was never shown to a mass audience in such scale before.
I made the mistake of seeing “Watchmen” on an IMAX screen, which is 3 stories tall.
That made Dr. M’s junk absolutely freaking scary!

Oh, and I thought the love scene between Silk Spectre & Night Owl was vaguely sickening and wrong.
Not sure if that was the intention of the film-maker, or due to the scale of the screen, though.
