Evolution

I truly believe that one of the reasons that I love the internet so much is because it is always changing.
Change does not scare me. I enjoy the opportunity to challenge myself and learn more by experiencing different things.

Just this week, a Yahoo and Bing have announced a collaboration that some feel may change the search engine landscape dramatically.
Some fear this change and others will embrace the new opportunities that are sure to arise from it.

Luckily for me, the comic I have done kinda, sorta fits into this theme.

I intended it to be a little commentary on how some social network users cannot wait to share every little detail of their lives. It could also be viewed as a comment about our reliance on technology to spread information.

But perhaps…
Just maybe……
..it is a funny comic about a fish, and that is all.

After all, as Homer Simpson so eloquently put it to Marge

“cartoons don’t have any deep meaning. They’re just stupid drawings that give you a cheap laugh.”

By the way – feel free to comment, or tell me what you think of my comics, or the lame posts I add under them. I am so starved of online interaction that I either get your comments or will be forced to return to *shudder* trolling myspace…

This comic originally appeared as a guest submission on Bearman Cartoon’s website.
He did a great writeup for me and his regular site visitors even seemed to like what I did.

I am re-posting the comic here to give people an alternative place to view it.

Now that you have seen it, why not head on over to the Bearman cartoons site, have a look at his work and say “Hi” from me while you are there. Enjoy!

Anti-social Media

Anti-social Media published on 4 Comments on Anti-social Media

It seems that traditional media bosses and commentators are always criticising online “new media” sites, complaining that they are “stealing audiences” and that new media” is to blame for their falling profits.

Online sources of information such as twitter and blogs, can often make traditional methods of sharing important information seem rather slow and out of touch with audiences.

These “new media” outlet also offer alternatives for advertisers looking to showcase their brand to a target demographic.

Sometimes, existing tradtional media outlet can get very upset and personal in their attacks.

The resulting impression that I get from all of this, is of the “old media” coming across as a bunch of very anti-social grumps, getting angry at silly little things.
Placing blame instead of looking for solutions.
Resisting change for nothing more than a fear of looking like they may have something new to learn.

It is all pretty rediculous, I believe.
Can’t we all just get along?

That is the reasons of why I drew this comic.
That, and I also really liked drawing the television giving you the finger…..

Twitter finally sells out

Twitter finally sells out published on 4 Comments on Twitter finally sells out

What would it look like if twitter decided to finally sell out to one of the worlds largest and most famous corporations on earth?
Maybe something like this!

There seem to be rumors all the time, about twitter courting offers from large corporations looking to get a piece of their social media pie.
So why not recieve a capital injection from someone who actually has pie?

I think this is actually no more ridiculous that twitter selling out to yahoo, Microsoft or Google.
If the partnership is right and money can be made, who is to say what can happen?

For example, Zappos recently sold out to Amazon, which surprised many.
The world of corporate takeovers and mergers is a murky one and full of strange bedfellows.

I think that “McTwitter” could offer a really  a unique offering.
The resulting product would be offered to a customer base from both organisations, which is a large, diverse demographic audience.
Both organisations also have products which are understood and loved by many.

I, for one, cannot wait to order my tweetburger, follow-a-cola and hot apple reply ‘re’pie ……
